In 2003, Karr was a 32 year old New Yorker just enjoying life. But then, a regular checkup at her doctor's office resulted in a diagnosis of a rare and incurable Stage IV cancer called epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, existing in her liver and lungs.
Instead of succumbing to the disease, Karr decided to challenge her diagnosis head on. She attacked her cancer with a brand new nutritional lifestyle, and turned her experience into a series of successful self-help books like Crazy Sexy Diet and Crazy Sexy Kitchen.
She even made a documentary film Crazy Sexy Cancer. Eventually, she launched her own wellness site kriscarr.com, which is followed by over 40,000 people.
Karr regularly lectures at medical schools, hospitals, wellness centers, corporations such as Whole Foods, and Harvard University. She is a Contributing Editor for Natural Health Magazine and writes for many online publications. Television appearances include: CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, The Early Show, Today Show, Good Morning America, The Gayle King Show, Super Soul Sunday series on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Today, Karr is celebrating a decade of "thriving with cancer," and is now revered as one of the most prominent experts on healthy living.
This is a story of determination, will to live, will to fight, entrepreneurship, and bringing some positive impact in the society around you. Karr turned deadly disease into an opportunity. She took it as a mission to live on. When faced with such life threatening difficulty, every individual has two choices. Only two choices....One, either fall victim to the circumstances and blame your luck. Second, take charge of your situation and deal heads on.
