So today in train, I was sitting besides a woman who had her approximately three year old son on her lap. Normally four average size people can sit on a seat in a local train which runs in Mumbai. The inside looks like this:
This is a picture of general compartment. I was in the ladies compartment. Anyway. It was afternoon. The train wasn't much crowded but most of the seats I could see were occupied. So, some time passed while I was still sitting besides the same woman, everything was peaceful around, until, the kid puked. All of a sudden there was chaos. The kid puked on his mom and on a woman sitting right opposite to them. At that very moment everybody on the neighboring seats got up and started reacting to the situation in an indifferent way as if they are suffering from indigestion. Even the mother.
I quite did not like what was happening. Nobody came forward to offer water from their water bottles so that they could help to get the whole thing cleaned. Instead they were only pushing themselves away. I can understand about others. But the kids Mom, she was shouting at him. Why would she do that? He probably did not even understand what is going inside him. He was sleeping.
I managed to arrange a few bottles filled with water from people around. Then, the others started offering themselves; I felt better then.
Mankind is, at times, very fast with reactions. I totally agree with Newton "Every action has equal and opposite reaction". But, mankind does have a control over the reaction of oneself. One does have the choice of what he wants his reaction to be like.
Its very important how parents and elders react and respond to the natural processes that go inside children. Its not their mistake many times. It isn't right from parents side to over-react or react in a discouraging manner to the natural mechanisms and functioning. This does not affect the child directly, but it sure has an impact on his mind and behavior.
